#9 AUSSIE (DAY 1)

After much nagging from Candice, I've finally gotten down to drafting a proper entry, and slowly gaining back the momentum to blog more diligently now.

AND SO HERE WE GO:

During my compliance leave this year (Oct 2013), I've decided to make a trip to a place that I've always wanted to go: Australia!

So among all cities, I chose Sydney this time much to many disapproving looks as everyone told me Melbourne's much better. Anyway, I chose Sydney still because I'm a bloody tourist at heart lah okay! Of course I got to see the iconic places of Australia first right?

SYDNEY (DAY 1)

Flew with Qantas/Emirates.

The boy.

Airport meals.

You know the food they serve probably wasn't that good if the boy tells you the best part of the meals was......

.
.
.
.

The coke.
-.-

After 8 hours of flight, we finally arrived at Sydney airport and had to grab a cuppa straight.

Needless to say, it was horrible but we had to make do.

Nonetheless, we did not let the lousy coffee dampen our mood.
Took a cab down to our serviced apartment to check in!

And yes, after an AUD 40 cab ride down from the airport, we arrived at the place we'll be staying for the next few days.

ZARA TOWER!

I must say I was pretty impressed with this newly built serviced apartment.
Very clean and it's fully furnished with equipments of top notch brands.

The dining table area

Open kitchen.

Living room with no view, unfortunately.

Bedroom

Toilet

Molton Brown toiletries!

You would think that the first thing we'd do after unpacking would be to quickly explore the area but no.

Instead, we lounged on the couch and watched re-runs of FRIENDS that were playing on TV.

 -.-'''

Yes, introducing the super chill couple.
.
.
.

Finally we pulled ourselves away from the couch and explored our apartment area (Surry Hills) for lunch!

Walking through Harmony Park

Watching people just lazing on the grass patches enjoying the cool weather.
Laidback much.

Settled for lunch at this place: Madam Char Char

Which was not really an impact-ful first meal in Sydney I would say.
Food was pretty mediocre though.

But don't worry, the food gets better as the days pass. Hahaha.

Then our coffee craving kicked in and we stumbled into this 'hole in a wall' coffee place.

Pablo's Vice.

It is usually in the most unassuming place where you find the gem.
And so it's proven!

Oh my, coffee was SO good!
One of the best I've ever had.

Coffee craving satisfied!

Erm, okay.

What a lovely sight, indeed.

Shopped at the grocery store for some snacks and for our breakfast the following morning as we had to wake up quite early.

Puppy cakes

Weather was turning cold as the night approached, and we settled in a seemingly popular cafe - Oliver Brown for some hot chocolate.

Alfresco. The boy likes it best.

Headed back to our apartment for a short rest before dinner.

And he passed me this book that he had sneakily bought and brought to Sydney for me, knowing that I had finish my previous reading material.

With a surprise note as well. That sweet boy.

Donned my coat due to the chilly weather at night.

With Robbie hiding behind me, refusing to participate in my outfit-of-the-day shots. Hahahaha.

Had pretty decent korean food for dinner.
Comfort food for the weather.

Roamed around Sydney Chinatown after dinner.
Quite a touristy place comprising of shops selling souvenirs and local goods.

As always, meals are never complete without dessert.

It's similar to Black Ball in Singapore.
Love it all the same!

With that, concludes our laidback Day 1.

Stay tuned for Day 2 for SUPER CUTE KOALA BEARS!
